La Grange offers such a wide array of year-round outdoor
recreation opportunities that there’s practically
something for everyone.
Things to
Do
Cycle
Whether you are practicing for your next ride or
simply want to enjoy the fresh air of Fayette
County, you will find that La Grange has the
distance you are looking for. With nine scenic
routes ranging from 18.5 miles to 60 miles, get
ready for the MS 150 ride, which spends the
night in the city every April, or spend an
afternoon. For those in it for the long haul, we
invite you to combine multiple routes and stay
awhile.
The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce invites
you to stop by for visitor information 24 hours,
7 days a week at its outdoor, touch-screen kiosk
located at 171 South Main in La Grange.

Hike
One the prettiest scenic view in Fayette County,
Monument Hill & Kreische Brewery State Historic
Sites sit atop the bluff on the northern limit
of the Oakville Escarpment. We invite you to
enjoy our hiking trail system which allows you a
glimpse back in time to the natural settings of
early Texas. New trails will be opening in 2007.
Picnic sites, rest rooms, playground, trail
exhibits and scenic overlooks are found on the
flat, bluff-top area. Here eastern plant and
animal species of the woodlands and prairies
coexist with western species from the Texas Hill
Country. The result is an area of unusually rich
biological diversity.
Run
or walk
The bustling downtown square that is reminiscent
of days gone by and pleasant, peaceful
residential areas beckon both runners and
walkers. Because of the rolling hills in our
city, you can make your excursion as challenging
or as easy as you choose!
Geocache
Geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for
gps users. Participating in a cache hunt is a
good way to take advantage of the wonderful
features and capability of a gps unit. The basic
idea is to have individuals and organizations
set up caches all over the world and share the
locations of these caches on the internet. GPS
users can then use the location coordinates to
find the caches. Once found, a cache may provide
the visitor with a wide variety of rewards. All
the visitor is asked to do is if they get
something they should try to leave something for
the cache.
Golf
The scenic Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club is a
nine-hole course nestled under the bluff near
the Colorado River. For more information, please
call979-968-6113.
